Why now?

In October 2026, Ledger said it was investigating draining of devices bought through a Southeast Asia reseller, CryptoBilis, and told recent buyers not to set those devices up. Separately, TRM Labs reports that a build error in Coldcard firmware 4.0.1 (March 2021) made some devices generate weak, brute-forceable seeds, and updating firmware does not fix seeds already created.
